A Paddle Tour of the Upper Deschutes: Exploring Hydrology, Geology, and River Management

Join the Deschutes River Conservancy and Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe for a guided paddle and conversation on the Upper Deschutes River. This immersive afternoon paddle tour will dive into the river’s hydrology and geology, how the flow regime is managed, and how that management affects the health of the entire Deschutes Basin.

Volcanologist Daniele McKay from the University of Oregon and DRC's Senior Program Manager Lisa Seales will guide the conversation while Tumalo Creek leads you down a beautiful stretch of the Deschutes River.

Total Group Limit: 14

  • 2 Tumalo Creek guides
  • 2 DRC staff/speakers
  • 10 public participant spots
     

Registration

  • $25 refundable registration fee required to hold a spot
  • Fee refunded upon attendance (or cancellation with adequate notice)
  • Purpose: Ensure all limited spots are filled the day of the tour

Logistics

  • Meeting Point: Tenino boat launch area
  • Guest arrival: 1:30 PM for safety talk and prompt launch at 2:00 PM
  • Staff/guides arrive: 1:00 PM to assist with shuttle and staging
  • Tumalo Creek van will be staged at the take-out
  • Route on River: Tenino to Wyeth
